Celebrating Excellence: The Rising Tigers Cup at Manila Golf and Country Club

August 7, 2023, the Manila Golf and Country Club welcomed 100 enthusiastic players with open fairways. Brimming with excitement, these players gathered at the renowned and historic golf course, considered one of the most prestigious and exclusive in the country.

The brainchild of the Yupangco Group led by
Robert Laurel Yupangco, Rising Tigers Magazine under the guidance of CMO Andria Terese Nicolas, and with the support of His Excellency Ambassador Dato Abdul Malik Melvin Castileno from the Embassy of Malaysia, the Rising Tigers Cup was conceived.

This initiative marked Rising Tigers Magazine's foray into the world of sports, backed by esteemed individuals such as Brian Poe Llamanzares, Atty. Arnel and Sarah Mateo, Engr. Grace and Andrew Troy Nicolas, Ethiopian Business Consul David Ackerman, and Micheal Pacquiao.


Brought to life by Tag Media Group, the parent company of Rising Tigers Magazine Inc., known for its impeccable event execution, this marked their inaugural golf tournament. The prestigious Manila Golf and Country Club was chosen as the backdrop to mirror the greatness and unparalleled success featured within the pages of their magazine.


The event was an exclusive affair, by invite only, ensuring a carefully curated selection of participants, ranging from tycoons to professional golfers and even students. The organizers meticulously filtered players and attendees, considering their affiliations and designations. A few students were granted entry, including Tiffany Bernardino, Miguel Baretto, Armand Capok (son of a Manila Golf member), who clinched the Overall Low Gross Champion title. De La Salle University Pro Golfer Kristoffer Arevalo also secured the Overall Low Net Champion title with a handicap of 6. Notably, Andria Nicolas, the CMO of Rising Tigers Magazine, made her golf tournament debut, securing the 15th position in the Ladies Division.




Distinguished personalities such as Becky Garcia, Hi Society columnist for The Manila Times; Jerome Ngo, CEO of Gerry’s Grill; Russell Graef from the US Embassy; Tim Yap, Eventologist; Emmanuelle Rayos, Singtel Country Head; Dr. George Sarakinis; Ambassador Vic Garcia; and General Alex Capiña, among others, added to the event's allure.
