MANILA, Philippines – As the filing period for candidacies nears its end, the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has reported a strong and active response from electoral aspirants, signaling a robust democratic process for the upcoming elections under the leadership of Chair George Erwin M. Garcia. As of December 7, 2024, at 4:38 p.m., a total of 4,646 registration forms have been received online via Google Forms, excluding submissions from private individuals or entities. Among these, 27 senatorial aspirants have registered, while 4,500 local candidates have filed for various local positions. Additionally, 119 party-list groups, organizations, and coalitions have submitted their registration forms, further expanding the pool of candidates for the upcoming election.
