Empowering Talaingod: COMELEC headed by Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia Hosts Voters Education for Indigenous Groups and Youth in Davao Del Norte
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC), through its Vulnerable Sector Office (VSO), successfully conducted a Voters’ Education and Outreach Program on December 18, 2025, at Sto. Niño National High School in Talaingod, Davao del Norte.
The event
was led by VSO Director Atty. Monaliza Mamukid and was attended by COMELEC
Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia and Commissioner Aimee A. Ferolino. Also
present were Region XI’s Regional Election Director, Atty. Remlane M. Tambuang,
and Assistant Regional Election Director, Atty. Gay A. Enumerables.
The program
targeted Indigenous Peoples (IPs) and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) voters, aiming
to raise awareness about voter registration and to educate participants on
their rights and responsibilities as members of the electorate. Through this
initiative, COMELEC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting inclusive
participation and empowering vulnerable sectors.
Mini grocery packs and hygiene kits were distributed to participants as part of the activity. The program proceeded smoothly and was well-received by the community.
COMELEC
extended heartfelt thanks to the principal, teachers, and students of SNNHS, as
well as the Senior Citizens and Tribal Community of Talaingod, for their warm
support and active participation.
