Is your business future-proof and ready? It's already the era of IoT, 5g and AI, and users do business not only through their desktops and laptops, but now also with their mobile devices.
VMware announces during the Evolve Philippines 2018 event held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Manila last Thursday, June 28, 2018, a Virtual Cloud Network to
deliver an end-to-end software-defined network architecture with intrinsic
security for apps across Data Center, Branch, Cloud, and Edge. This is how tomorrow is Built!
Press Release:
THE PHILIPPINES – June
28, 2018 – VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), a leading innovator in enterprise software, unveiled
its vision for the future of networking at its annual Evolve Forum in Manila.
The company launched the Virtual Cloud Network, a new network approach that
will empower businesses in the Philippines to achieve their digital
transformation goals by unlocking value from today’s networking technologies
amidst an increasingly complex environment.
Organizations
in the Philippines are embarking on digital transformation journeys to create
better experiences for customers, clients, and employees, and achieve better
business outcomes. This is also driven by the increasing end-user connectivity,
with over 50 million people accessing
the internet in the Philippines, projected to grow to 57.84 million in 2022[1]. Likewise,
the mobile penetration rate is growing at the rate of 1.5x (or 30 million
users) annually - from 101 million mobile subscriptions to a total of 119
million with a penetration rate of 117%[2].
In
view of this, as organizations strive to offer more touchpoints across
different devices, there are increased networking and security complexities as they
move from centralized data centers to hyper distributed applications and
centers of data at the edge.
To
this end, the network must evolve to deliver an everything-to-everything
connected architecture across private data centers, public clouds,
telecommunications networks, branches, and endpoints. They must also deliver
multi-cloud networking, security, and management capabilities that provide a
common operating model from the data center to the cloud to the branch.
“Everything
of value is connected to the network, and this is accelerated through the
increasing use of IoT, 5G, AI, and other emerging technologies as users connect not only through their
desktop and laptop computers, but also via mobile devices. To be
future-ready and leverage this opportunity, businesses in the Philippines need
to be equipped with the right network foundation,” said Sanjay K. Deshmukh, vice president and managing director, SEAK, VMware.
“A
digital foundation built on VMware enables organizations to flex and harness
new technology at the speed which it evolves without disrupting business
operations. Today, I’m very excited to announce the software-defined Virtual
Cloud Network, a new network approach for the next 20 years that will provide organizations
with robust and more secure connectivity,” said Deshmukh.
Virtual
Cloud Network: A New Network Approach
With
applications and data now residing everywhere, companies can no longer rely
solely on a hardware-based network deployed inside their data center to run
their business. With a Virtual Cloud Network, businesses will be able to create
an end-to-end software-based network architecture that delivers services to
applications and data, wherever they are located.
The
Virtual Cloud Network will operate at global scale from edge to edge and
deliver consistent, pervasive connectivity and intrinsic security for apps and
data, independent of underlying physical infrastructure or location.
In
order to support a secure network intrinsicly, VMware announced the VMware NSX
networking and security portfolio which provides a common operating environment for customers to
connect, secure and operate a Virtual Cloud Network. The portfolio enables
consistent, pervasive connectivity and intrinsic security for apps and data
across software-defined data center, branch, cloud, and telco
environments. Customers will be able to
manage consistent networking and intrinsic security across private data
centers, AWS, Azure, and IBM Cloud.
·
VMware NSX Data Center,
one of the industry’s most widely deployed network virtualization platform for
the enterprise data center, adopted by more than 4,500 customers globally.
·
VMware NSX SD-WAN by VeloCloud, the industry-leading
Software-Defined Wide Area Networking solution that combines the economics and
flexibility of the best real-time network overlay with the deployment speed,
scale and automation of cloud-delivered services.
·
VMware NSX Cloud
provides consistent networking and intrinsic security for applications running
in both private VMware-based data centers and natively in public clouds.
·
VMware NSX Hybrid Connect
enables customers to solve one of the biggest challenges with hybrid cloud–
consistent networking.
“Powerful
applications are now critical in sharpening a business’ competitive edge or boosting
the quality of public sector services. As the Philippines progresses on its
digital strategic plan and smart city vision, we are committed to equipping organizations
in the Philippines with the right tools to better innovate and deliver, manage,
secure, and connect apps to users and data, wherever they may be,” said Victor Silvino, Country Manager, VMware
Philippines.
