Ms.  Hasniza “Sue” Suid – Sales Manager, Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa      Ms. Yazlina  Yahya – Director, Tourism Malaysia Manila

Why Langkawi

The name “Langkawi” is said to be derived from the word “helang” (eagle) and “kawi” (reddish brown). Not your ordinary island, Langkawi is an archipelago of 104 islands distinctly different and filled with myths and legends.

Eco-adventure, island hopping, wildlife sighting, shopping, historical and cultural experience are just some of the many exciting things you can do at Langkawi.

The Langkawi international travel bubble was launched on the 15th of November 2021 where fully vaccinated individuals are allowed to travel into the island. Other than this, travel is only for those with special passes.

SOPs

Director Yahya also presented the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for all tourists entering Malaysia which includes the following procedures:

Required testing prior to departure – a negative COVID-19 RT PCR swab test is required for all countries within 72 hours before arrival in Malaysia.

Required testing upon arrival – Malaysia bound passengers will undergo an addition swab test upon arrival in KLIA.

Mandatory 7 or 10 days home quarantine (to apply 7010 days prior to travelling to Malaysia)

Quarantine in hospitals designated by the Ministry of Health (if tested positive)
