Billionaire Robert Laurel Yupangco Is Among Asia Leaders Awards’ Top 50 “Rising Tigers: Nation Builders”

The Modern-Day ZOOperman Robert Laurel Yupangco of the Zoomanity Group Corporation joins Asia Leaders Awards—the Philippines and Southeast Asia’s largest business awards event—during the launch of business and lifestyle magazine “Rising Tigers: Nation Builders” as one of the Top 50 Rising Tigers in the Asia Pacific.

This milestone, another brainchild of Asia Leaders Awards (ALA) Committee will be held on March 22, 2022, at the Grand Hyatt Manila at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

Exemplifying Leadership through Achievements

Robert Laurel Yupangco, one of the grandsons of former President Jose P Laurel, RLY, as he is fondly called, is the brains behind the Zoomanity Group Corporation, an eco-tourism empire, whose vision is to “make the Philippines one big green resort and theme park.” True enough, the enterprise quickly became the leading zoo and theme park enterprise when it opened eight local and international parks to 8M visitors per year!

“The fruit that we are eating today was planted by our parents. That’s why we need to plant something in return for our future generations,” he said. Hence, among his corporate social responsibility thrusts is environmental conservation, “loving and caring for animals and the environment,” after all, we all live on the same planet.

Under Zoomanity Group, RYL has Zoobic Safari, Zoocobia Fun Zoo, Clarkzilla Adventure, Zoori at Residence Inn, Paradizoo, and Zoocolate Thrills in the Philippiens, Zootopia Ski Resort in Nagano in Japan, and Animal Breeding Center in Australia.

Diversifying His Wealth, Expanding His Empire

Tourism, however, isn’t RLY’s only passion. His experience and expertise are so rich he led the diversification of G.A. Yupangco Group’s interests. From the company he inherited from their father, branched out and thrived.

He set up the Yupangco Electronics Corporation for marketing and distributorship, YL Finance Corporation for micro- and consumer financing and remittance, YL Development for real estate, Yamaha School of Music for arts and education, and Sound Publishing Corporation for printing and mass media.

“To think is to create the transformation,” RLY would often repeat as his mantra for success. “We just need to be diligent and hardworking,” even if we’re not rich to start with. “We owe everything to our team, siblings, parents, and God!”

Now, RLY has likewise branched to the food and beverage and hospitality industry with Chefmate Corporation. Under which, he launched Jinsei Sushi Bar; Misono Teppanyaki, Nanten, and Midori Japanese Restaurants; Samgyupsalamat by Korean Alley and Korean Lane Development Corporation; Unli City Unlimited Meals; and, Ruins City Garden.

He has also ventured into transportation with his motor projects under Zoomanity Wheelz and Zooper Cars—Bel-Air Charter Bus Transport as well as museum and exhibits with Galleries of the World, featuring a wax museum with animaltronics, 3D paintings, and FunZ obstacle course.

With RLY’s creative business ideas, growth millionaire mindset, and boundless energy, he is truly one of Asia Pacific’s Rising Tigers!

Recognizing the Leaders of Tomorrow

With 2022—The Year of the Water Tiger promising 365 days of positive changes, “business will be stable  and finances will flow smoothly throughout the year with grit in its side.”

Hence, Asia Leaders Awards take the opportunity to recognize Robert Laurel Yupangco among the Top 50 Rising Tigers in the Asia Pacific both in person and tribute through the launching of the Rising Tigers: Nation Builders Magazine.

This latest publication will feature the best and the brightest in the Philippines and Southeast Asia who never fail to balance commitment to growth with corporate social responsibility, even during the most trying times.

Combining Brave Strength and New Happiness

Thus, to open 2022—The Year of the Water Tiger, Asia Leaders Awards take on the theme of Very Peri, “the happiest and warmest of all the blue hues,” Pantone’s Color of the Year.

“This combination of bravery, strength, newness, and happiness is what symbolizes the changes and the difference the world is experiencing as we look to move beyond the isolation and uncertainty of the pandemic,” explained Engineer Grace Bondad Nicolas, who’s spearheading the ALA Board.

By taking on this “empowering mix of newness” with a “carefree confidence and a daring curiosity that animates the creative spirit that in result helps a bigger community or the world,” 2022 will be an auspicious year for both leaders and constituents, businesses and customers!
